Who can go?

The Silver Ring Run is available to anybody that has a passport and a Mini (classic or BMW). We have designed the run so it is family friendly.

We aim to make this enjoyable for anybody that wishes to join us, if you have any special needs or requirements then please contact us and I am sure we can make arrangements for you.

You do not have to be experienced in European driving to take this adventure as we have many experienced runners on the event you can "team" up with. Last 2 years, we have had drivers who were driving in Europe for the first time in their lives, and they all did really well. Convoy driving is usually very safe, and helps inexperienced drivers learn as they go in a safe environment, although it has to be said that some of the drivers on the continent are a bit mad - just like some of the drivers in the UK!

For 2008 we are imposing a recommended minimum motorway traveling speed of 65mph (sat nav speed), (subject of course to the driving conditions at the time. If it is stop start traffic, then obviously you cannot maintain 65mph!) . It is not safe to travel in convoy in Europe below those sorts of speeds as you will be traveling slower than the trucks. Having these overtake you all the time is scary and unsafe. Regretfully therefore, if your mini cannot keep up a speed of 65mph, or if you are not prepared to drive at 65mph, then this event is not for you.
